With the NBA season being tipped off, Los Angeles is indeed the place where two of its beloved basketball teams will be the best playoff teams in the league. The battle of the title for the best basketball team in Los Angeles began Tuesday night with the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers facing off at Staples Center in front of a boisterous crowd. With the NBA starting the official season, the western conference has shown promising talent with all-star contenders that can’t be beat!

On the Lakers side, Anthony Davis made his debut after suffering a right thumb injury against the New Jersey Nets during their NBA China Game Series. The 6’10 power forward wasn’t short of pleasing the crowd, scoring 25 points Tuesday night with 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Davis, alongside second-year Laker Lebron James lead the team with an early lead on the scoreboard. However, the tables were turned as soon as small forward Kawhi Leonard pegged them during the second quarter, leading the Clippers with 62 points and the Lakers with 54 points. Leonard scored 30 points with 6 rebounds and 7 assists.

The stellar performer of the night was point guard Lou Williams of the LA Clippers who scored 21 points, with a jump shot that makes any swoosh sound aesthetically pleasing to the ears. He also had 5 rebounds and 7 assists. He’s proven to be a great addition to the Clippers.

Things quickly began heating up during the third quarter with the scoreboard tied 85-85. The third quarter was the moment where small forward Danny Green showed his baller skills on the court, scoring 23 points catching fire. The new addition to the Lakers not only scored his points, but mocked the Clippers showing them who's boss during his 15 minutes of shine time. With all that smack talking, those words don't even phase the Clippers, and the results on the scoreboard said it all.

The 4th Quarter was disappointing for the more favored LA team, as the Lakers lost to the Clippers 102-112 putting a damper in the beginning of the season for many Angelenos standing near the televisions. The Clippers pulled through to the end without the help of their teammate Paul George. "PG-13" is due back on the court come November. May we Laker fans have a moment of silence for this devastating loss for the beginning of the season.
