The NBA is back and its better than ever! With heavy hitters and some new faces, the 2021-2022 season is geared towards appealing to the exhilarating baller fans and the fight for a chip is on high demand. Who will secure a championship this season?

Reigning Champs Return to the Court
Last season's champs, the Milwaukee Bucks, had a victorious start tonight facing the Brooklyn Nets with a winning score of 127-104. Kick starting the season, Giannis Antetokoumpo finished the game with 32 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists. But despite the tenacity of the team players on the Bucks, the real MVP of the night was Aussie point guard Patty Mills who delivered a stellar performance. He was up 7-to-7 with a sizzling court presence and equalling NBA records for his 3-pointers. He finished strong with 21 points, which is a powerful feat for his first game.
Notable power forward Kevin Durant came on the court ready to dominate the paint, but even his efforts were minuscule at tonight's game. Although he scored 32 points on top of 11 rebounds, four assists and two blocks, it wasn't enough to bring home their first championship of the season. One team member that was notably absent was Kyrie Irving. Irving, who chooses to remain unvaccinated. As a result he is banned from playing in any of the upcoming games for this season until he gets his shot. Could this be detrimental for the progress of the Nets?

LA Faces the Bay
As the east coast was wrapping up their game, it was a battle of the north and the south as the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors battled it out on the court tonight. What started off as a piece of cake for the Lakers became a turning point as the lack of defense began to show on the Lakers' end, making the Warriors the sole champions of this game, leading 121-114. Dubs went around for Stephen Curry and Jordan Poole who collectively had triple-doubles and 20 point outbursts. On the Lakers end, the performance was high from the likeness of LeBron James and Anthony Davis, who scored together 67 points at tonights game. Golden State showed that they weren't playing any games unless it involved an orange basketball and free throw lines, which the Lakers unfortunately lacked in.
Granted, it is still the first game of the official season, but these players have a lot of ground to cover before they can redeem themselves for their next upcoming games. NBA is bigger and better with no plans of slowing down any time soon. This doubleheader was definitely a start of all the excitement that basketball fans nationwide are eager to see as the season progresses.
