2020 thus far has been a very emotional year in the sports world, primarily the basketball world. With the sudden tragic passing of NBA legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter, 13 year old aspiring basketball player Gigi, the world stood still that day in complete devastation. Still dealing with the sudden loss, basketball was unprepared for a new obstacle that could change the game for a very long time.

Coronavirus and the League
The world was completely shaken up and caught by surprise by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Restaurants were closed, schools were shut down, and sports associations had to postpone the season, and potentially cancel it altogether. This unknown deadly virus that has become a global pandemic has made life as we know it a ‘once upon a time.’ As more and more cases spread worldwide, it immediately began affecting the basketball world with cases increasing in the NBA. Notable players such as Rudy Gobert, Kevin Durant, Christian Wood and many others had tested positive for the unprecedented virus, causing the season to be postponed until further notice by the basketball association. The problem with this? With the 2019-2020 NBA season having so much eager anticipation from its strongest players, nobody is crowned champion this season.

Who's The Real NBA Champ?
If we are basing this decision on technicalities and statistics, the favored team in the league right now is none other than the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers lead the pack with a 200+ odd being in their favor for winning the NBA Championship title, proving that the west coast is indeed the best coast. The team following them is the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks being second best in the league lost to the Lakers back on March 6 103-113 before this pandemic went down, giving them an odd of 225+ on the statistical roster.
Right behind those two teams are the Los Angeles Clippers. The Clippers came more than ready with their new additions to the team; small forward Kawhi Leonard and power forward Paul George (PG-13). With so much promise and tenacity, the Clippers were on their way to become more than just the secondary shadow team to the Lakers. With their odds being at 300+, they were more than ready to take the NBA Western Conference Finals by storm, but these ambitions were plagued by the unprecedented pandemic.

NBA Moving Forward
The NBA season is scheduled to follow up in mid-June of this year. With this hiatus taking place now, it is giving the basketball association time to reflect and figure out how this season can proceed. The 2019-2020 season was going to go down as one of the most watched seasons in NBA history due to the well rounded players who all had talent and fire on the court. With both the East and West coast experiencing tremendous changes in the league with trade offs and free agencies left and right, people all over were tuned in, including those who were not familiar with basketball but fell in love with it in a series of months. Yes, the NBA has gone through dramatic phases thus far in 2020, but the unity is still there and the whole basketball association is ready to take the neccesary steps for its players as well as the fans.
